While completing projects for other courses I noticed that they needed, or would be nicer and more effective with graphics. The style I landed n to complete this is a for of flat clip art using a monotone palate.
Application Across Areas
Educators (and students) learning digital art can be a powerful tool for teaching across various subjects and integrating different areas of the curriculum. Showing different modes of engagement that strengthen and helps with visualization. I act of drawing it’s self is beneficial for knowledge retention and solidification; drawing out one’s thinking is a great tool to remember information better, and when creating a graphic to share one must think about their content in a deeper and more detail oriented way. Other benefits may be:
- Different Mode of Expression: Helps students visually express complex ideas in subjects like science, history, or literature by creating digital illustrations or infographics.
- Technology Skills: Develops digital literacy, which is transferable to many fields and crucial in todayβs tech-driven world.
- Cross Curricular Connections: Combines art with other subjects like math (geometry in design), science (visualizing concepts), or language arts (illustrating stories).
- Critical Thinking: Encourages problem-solving and decision-making, such as choosing appropriate tools or visual styles to convey meaning.
- Collaboration: Teaches teamwork through group projects, fostering communication and cooperation skills.
- Cultural Understanding: Promotes exploration of cultural themes and artistic styles, enhancing diversity awareness in social studies or global education.
- Engagement: Makes learning interactive and fun, keeping students motivated in subjects they might otherwise find challenging.
My Connections
Extra Space – Art

I had some excess space in my portfolio for art class and I decided that I needed (wanted, so thus a need, seeing no other way) to include a visual in order to fill the page. As I was looking on the ‘interwebs’ for a graphic I could not find anything that I deemed suitable, so, remembering that I have access to digital art applications, I took the opportunity to create my own.

Thinking of “extra space” I continued along the space idea, adding planets, stars, and an astronaut. I decided to do a form of clip art style as well as including typography.
(Also adapting the astronaut into its own individual graphic).
Hip Hop – PHE

When crating a unit lesson plan for PHE we needed to to add drawings of the organization of the class (the dots), as well as providing assistance in remembering the movements (rocking, baby freeze, two-step, box step, top rock, down groove, and up groove). When adding letters to the gym layout for stations I wanted to use a font, and as our lesson is based on hip hop, I went with a graffiti style.
