Different ways to incorporate photos into digital art/drawings; This post will look at application and combination of styles, and incorporation of images.
From last inquiry post, I also had a second dilemma, however, a little more fuzzy…. Kiwi. Apparently she always needs attention and cameras only should be on her, as she constantly got in the way. Thus, Kiwi photoshoot.

While looking at the images afterwards, it got me thinking what else can I do with them and other images integrated into digital art. (Yes, she has a mean stink eye).
Kiwi The Kunstkaibinett ♡
I was looking for words to go along with ‘Kiwi’ for the heading of this section and I came across the German word Kunstkabinett. This means a “cabinet of curiosities”. A similar term is Kunstkammer, a “chamber of curiosities”. These were exhibition spaces in which odd and wondrous rarities were brought together for private contemplation and pleasure. Although the objects on display in these spaces were art objects, if some or all of the objects were marvels of nature, then they were instead called Wunderkabinetts and Wunderkammern.

This connects to Kiwi as she is embodies a rich tapestry of characteristics that I find captivating and precious… and precocious, and possesses a knack for collecting interesting items (obsessed with weird bits, especially garbage and things that crinkle).
In essence, calling someone your Kunstkabinett is a poetic way of saying that they are a source of endless wonder and delight, an irreplaceable and cherished presence in your life!
Cat Burglar

This doodle incorporates aspects of a flat clip art style with mixed media aspects (image). I also used a mirroring tool for the mask to have it be even. Creating this was quite fun as it was relatively easy, and myself and my family were giggling every time I showed them my progress.
This little gorgeous rascal is always getting into things, and loves to play with (try to eat?) plastic that crinkles. As well as we have made the mistake of giving her cat nip, we did not know that she could get even more psychotic, apparently she can. So I would assume that if she were to become a criminal (more than she is already, though unsure if it would be possible, she stole a squish mellow from a guest once) that she would target plastic and cat nip suppliers. See bottom for… evidence of crazy kitty.
Captured in Paint – Digital Collage

This doodle draws from the idea of a digital collage. Digital collage blends various media (photos, illustrations, different textures, etc) into a single composition. This allows it to be quite versatile as this style can take many forms. In my drawing I used textured (3d paint) brush and kept her vital aspects (nose, mouth, eyes, ears).
Though less time consuming than other doodles I have done, something I struggled with was having the paint smears go into the right spots. They tended to come out of the brush in a sporadic manner and you could never know were they would spawn to. As well as the seemingly simplistic nature of the image, you know immediately what you are supposed to look at so it is easier to see when something is not quite right. Which is why, besides an artistic choice, that I did not include her rosettes, as they would be too difficult to do justice to (same with the next image).
The Deceptive Complexity of Simplicity in Photography | Fstoppers
This video aims to cover off the importance of simplicity in everything from landscape photography to portrait photography, and why that isn’t always simple. Though this is a video on photography it applies to various aspects (as well as the website linked above), photography is also a form of digital art of which I use in all of my projects (even if just for a reference).
Kiwi-ifyied Kiwi – Manipulation of images

Creating this image I first was intending to form Kiwi out of flowers, however, it was not looking that great. Then I had the incredibly original idea (sarcasm) to make Kiwi out of kiwis. Weirdly enough I love how the eyes are looking out slightly, a little creepy yes, however, so is Kiwi and her eyes do in face do that.
An vital tool I used throughout this image was the warp tool; shaping a kiwi to to fit all of the needed shapes. Besides the fruit, I used leaves for the ears and collar, then incorporated aspects of the original picture (buckle on collar, nose and mouth, and the outline around her eyes). After I drew on the whiskers with a brush set to a low opacity.

Through the initial trial and error (primarily with the flowers) I also discovered more of the selection tools. Which saved a lot of time as by taking just what I needed and copying it to a new layer rather than having to erase around the whole item. I also found the smart patch tool, which helped to fill a gaps, cover blemishes, blend images, etc.
Enough With The Cute Pictures…
Welcome to a snippet of the constant chaos produced by living with a bengal, specifically Kiwi.

(Do not get me wrong, she is the light of my life and incredibly loyal, goofy, bossy, demanding, play fetch, and the probable cause of my inevitable demise).
